Inagua Outback Lodge

Great Inagua is one of the Bahamas' most remote and lightly pressured fisheries, a southern outpost where the flats hold bonefish in real numbers alongside resident tarpon, permit, and snook for a genuine shot at the grand slam. Anglers fish from South Dade skiffs, slip into skinny water on paddleboards, and reach the island's wilder interior flats by off-road truck. With an intimate six-guest lodge set right on the beach, twice-weekly access that keeps the water quiet, and Bahamian hospitality at the day's end, Inagua delivers a raw, off-the-beaten-path Caribbean fly-fishing experience.

Untouched, Low-Pressure Flats

Great Inagua sits at the far southern edge of the Bahamas, closer to Cuba than to Nassau, and its remoteness is the whole point. The island supports a community of only around 800 people, and its flats see almost no traffic, so bonefish hold in real numbers across shallows that most anglers never reach. This is fishing as raw as it gets, the kind of quiet, uncrowded water that has grown rare across the more traveled Bahamian destinations. You will often go a full day without seeing another skiff, working fish that have rarely, if ever, been cast to.

A Genuine Shot at the Grand Slam

Bonefish are the daily bread here, but Inagua's waters carry resident tarpon, permit, and snook, giving the fishery a true grand slam character within a single tide. Barracuda, jacks, mutton snapper, and triggerfish fill out the days when you want to chase something different, and the variety means the fishing rarely settles into routine. Whether you are working the shallows for tailing bonefish or hunting bigger, harder-pulling fish along the edges, there is always something worth casting to, and the shots come often enough to keep every day interesting.

Reach Water Others Can't

Access is part of the advantage on Inagua, and the lodge is set up to exploit it. Guides run South Dade skiffs to cover ground and reach distant flats, paddleboards to slip into skinny water without a sound, and an off-road truck that opens up the island's remote interior and its wilder, harder-to-reach edges. That range means you are not fishing the same handful of spots day after day. However you like to fish, the setup is built to take full advantage of everything the island holds, from its beaches and mangroves to the backcountry flats few anglers ever touch.
