Leave Only Footprints | More than a slogan
Our Commitment to Sustainability
At BlackBone Outfitters, we believe that the places we fish are worth protecting. The flats, rivers, jungles, and coastlines we take our clients to are not just backdrops for great fishing trips. They are living ecosystems, home to communities that have built their lives alongside these waters for generations. How we show up in those places matters.
Sustainability is not a checkbox for us. It is not a line item in a marketing plan or a badge we display to look good. It is something we take seriously from the very first conversation we have with a new lodge or outfitter partner.
Built Into the Way We Partner
Before BlackBone recommends a destination to a single client, we vet it. We visit in person, ask hard questions, and evaluate how a lodge or outfitter operates within its environment. That evaluation includes their approach to conservation. How do they manage their footprint? Are they protecting the ecosystems their guests come to experience? Are they contributing to the communities around them, or just operating within them?
Sustainability is an active part of how we onboard every new partner. It is not something we revisit after the relationship is established. It shapes who we work with in the first place.
Leaving Only Footprints
Everywhere we go, our goal is simple: leave only footprints. That means being thoughtful about how our trips are structured, how local resources are used, and how our presence affects the places and people that make each destination worth visiting.
We actively look for ways to get involved in the communities we work with, whether that means supporting conservation education, participating in local preservation efforts, or connecting our clients with the broader story of a place. A week spent fishing the flats of Andros or the rivers of the Bolivian Amazon is also an opportunity to understand what makes that ecosystem extraordinary and what it takes to keep it that way.
We think the best fishing trips leave people with more than great memories. They leave people with a deeper appreciation for the water, a sense of responsibility toward it, and a desire to see it protected.
Let's Build Something Together
If you are working on a conservation initiative, a community education program, or any kind of project tied to the waters and wild places we care about, we want to hear from you. We are always open to collaboration and genuinely love hearing what people are thinking about and working on. Good ideas can come from anywhere, and the more people pulling in the same direction, the better off these places will be.
