Soul Fly Lodge

The Berry Islands are one of the Bahamas' best-kept flats secrets, a fishery of firm white sand, turtle grass, ocean edges, and backcountry creeks around Great Harbour Cay. Soul Fly Lodge puts you on that water with a guide team whose expertise is measured in decades, whether you're wading skinny water for tailing bonefish or poling deeper edges for permit from a Maverick skiff. Runs are short, the sight fishing is constant, and back at the lodge, Chef Valentino's Bahamian inspired cooking and a poolside evening close out every day.

Bonefishing on Great Harbour Cay, Bahamas

The Pursuit

Aspirational saltwater species and nothing filler. Technical permit hunts and bonefish stalked in the skinny, in the Berry Islands off Great Harbour Cay. This is fishing measured by the quality of the shot, not the count.

The Fishery

Short runs and an intuitively managed program where the fish of a lifetime is always in reach. Wade the shallow flats or pole the deeper edges from Maverick HPX-V skiffs, rigged with top-tier demo rods so you're never under-gunned.

The Lodge

Refined simplicity. Al fresco dining, local Bahamian cooking from Chef Valentino, a pool, and the quiet of a story told after a day on the water. Precision on the water, presence at the lodge.

The Community

A young lodge built on deep local roots. The guides don't just pole the boats, they're stewards of these flats, backed by staff and hosts whose expertise is measured in decades. Fishery and community come first.

soul fly lodge

YEar round fishery

Soul Fly fishes from August through early July, and they don't carve the calendar into peak and off-peak. Every stretch of the season has a reason to be there. Summer runs hot for permit, with bonefishing that stays strong right alongside it. As the water cools, the bonefish flats come into their own. Whenever you can get away, there's a reason the fishing's worth it, so the real question isn't when the season peaks, it's when you can go.

The permit medallion story

Some lodges hand you a photo and a handshake. At Soul Fly, landing a permit means something more. There's a custom medallion and a hand-carved wooden sculpture waiting for you back at the lodge, a tradition reserved for the anglers who close the deal on the toughest fish in the salt. And you'll earn it. Permit in the Berry Islands don't come easy. You'll pole the ocean-side shallows, watch that black sickle tail cut the surface, and make the one cast that matters. Most anglers come home with a story about the fish that refused. A few come home with the medallion. Guides who've chased these fish for decades will put you in position. The rest is between you and the permit.

The last quiet corner

Everyone knows Andros. Everyone knows Grand Bahama. Almost nobody fishes the Berrys. Thirty miles of white sand flats, turtle grass, ocean edges, and backcountry creeks, sitting quietly between Nassau and Florida while the crowds fly past to the famous names. The anglers who know this place have kept it that way on purpose. You'll wade firm sand with tailing bonefish pushing across the flat in groups, not singles. You'll pole edges where permit still act like they've never seen a fly. Short runs, empty water, and a fishery that fishes like the Bahamas did decades ago. Direct flights from Florida. A short hop from Nassau. Closer than you think, quieter than you'd believe.

Guides who steward the flats

There's a difference between a guide who works a fishery and a guide who belongs to it. At Soul Fly, the guide team's expertise is measured in decades. These are the people who grew up on this water, who know which flat fires on which tide, and who treat the Berrys as something to protect, not just fish. The lodge was built on those local relationships, and it shows in every day on the skiff. You'll feel it in the small things. The guide who repositions the boat before you even see the school. The push to get you one more shot before the light goes. The stories at the pool that night that make you feel less like a client and more like family. That's why guests come back to Soul Fly year after year.

Guest Experience

"I'm reaching out to share with you both how great our trip was to Soulfly. We lucked out with incredible weather on the backside of that cold front, and the fishing was great. We still saw a TON of fish (including some BIG fish), got plenty to eat, and all in beautiful locations. What set Soulfly apart was the positive energy and atmosphere. We've never seen the guides come back to the lodge to hang out, or give casting instruction, or just talk fishing. We quickly recognized all the elements that you've worked hard to highlight at Soulfly, and you have done a great job to really create a special experience for your guests."
