Rio Bravo Fishing Lodge
Rio Bravo sits directly on the Paraná River in Santa Fe, one hour by air from Buenos Aires. It's a rare setup: golden dorado on one of South America's great rivers, paired with world-class wingshooting from the same lodge. You'll fish for river tigers in the morning and be back at the pool by afternoon. Twelve months a year, with the best dorado window running August through February.

RIO BRAVO LODGE
Argentina · Santa Fe Province · Paraná River
Species: Golden Dorado, Pacú, Duck, Dove, Perdiz
The Paraná is the second-longest river in South America, and the stretch running past Rio Bravo Lodge holds one of the most reliable golden dorado fisheries on the continent. This is not a river you visit hoping for a shot. Dorado are here year-round, and the guides know the water.
Golden dorado are built for the fight. Heavy head, powerful jaws, teeth like a set of pliers. They earned the name river tiger honestly. When one eats, it goes airborne, and you will see everything that makes this fish worth traveling for. You can fish them on fly or conventional tackle, and the guides will rig you either way without making it a debate.
What sets Rio Bravo apart from a pure fishing lodge is what happens when you're not on the water. The same region that produces the dorado fishery produces enormous numbers of ducks, doves and perdiz. You can build a week that's all fishing, or you can split it: two days on the river, two days in the field. Nobody is going to push you one direction or the other.
The lodge itself has eight double bedrooms with private baths, a wine cellar, a jacuzzi and pool, a fire pit, a massage room, and a mezzanine that looks out over the river. There's a fishing dock on property. Meals are gourmet and the bar is open, Argentine wines included. Wi-Fi runs throughout if you need to stay reachable.
Getting there is straightforward. You'll fly into Santa Fe or Paraná, roughly an hour from Buenos Aires, and the lodge handles the two-hour ground transfer along with everything else from the moment you book.
If you've been looking for a trip that satisfies an angler and a wingshooter in the same group without either one compromising, this is the one.
